Wprowadzenie

To reduce pollution, from the 1st of January 2020 new environmental regulation comes into force. This regulation requires all ships to use fuels with a maximum Sulphur content of 0,5% or to use an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System to reduce their Sulphur emission. It’s a fast-growing business.

 

About the job

The main purpose of the job is testing and optimizing newly developed systems and components on board of customer vessels as part of the development process. Also the preparation and set-up of on board tests in conjunction with the (Sr.) System Development and R&D engineers belongs to the job.

The Testing & Development Engineer is reporting to the applicable project manager or sr. engineer for all operational responsibilities, under final responsibility of the Manager System Development. The key tasks and responsibilities are;

  • Takes care of all necessary preparations for jobs on board. Incl. compiling documents, drawings, schematics and tools;
  • Checks component and system functionality, running system, process set-up and confirms the system meets initial specifications;
  • Performs the agreed test program. Proposes additional tests where needed. Records system performance;
  • Instruction of crew for start-up, process optimization and system maintenance;
  • Reports daily progress;
  • Executes tests and related jobs and inspections;
  • Assists in (system) process optimization. Proposes, implements and tests improvements;
  • Deals with all open issues, questions, failures and non-compliances on site;
  • Executes retrofits, modifications and necessary repair jobs to keep the test equipment operational;
  • Writes comprehensive reports;
  • On the job instruction to customers and training of Field Service & Commissioning Engineers;
  • Develops system documentation (instructions, commissioning documents, etc.).


Who you are

  • BSc technical working- and competence level; preferably electrical oriented;
  • At least 5 years of experience as International Service & Commissioning Engineer, preferably in marine industry;
  • Knowledge and experience with applied processes and instrumentation;
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience; specifically electrics and electronics (PLC), pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, compressors;

Excellent written and oral technical communication skills in Dutch and English;

Knowledge and experience with safety standards and procedures.
